Position Overview The Department of Human Services, Danville State Hospital provides dedicated, high-quality care to the people who call Danville State home. We are seeking hard‑working, enthusiastic, compassionate, and caring Registered Nurses who are committed to providing exceptional care to our consumers. You will provide professional nursing care and treatment services. Duties include assessing patients’ physical, psychosocial, and/or mental health status; utilizing nursing diagnosis and treatment to develop and implement individual treatment plans; documenting psychiatric aspects of care in correlation with performance goals. As a charge nurse, you will direct and coordinate care delivery on an assigned unit using professional and psychiatric nursing concepts. Additional details regarding the duties of this position may be found in the position description. Work Schedule and Additional Information Full‑time employment. Positions available on 2nd shift (2:45 pm to 11:15 pm, 30‑minute lunch) 2nd shift receives $1.25 per hour shift differential. Rotating schedule, work every other weekend, holidays as assigned. New hires may be eligible for a $1,000.00 retention incentive payment, provided all criteria in the current Collective Bargaining Agreement are met. Schedule may change based on operational needs. Qualifications Necessary Special Requirements Active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania. Employees with an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure within one year, as defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. Other Requirements PA residency requirement currently waived for this title. If within 60 days of nursing school graduation, you may apply; you must show proof of a current, valid Pennsylvania temporary practice permit or licensed RN at appointment. You must be able to perform essential job functions. Legal Requirements Conditional offer requires completion of a medical examination and drug screening. This position falls under the Older Adult Protective Services Act. Conditional offer requires satisfactory criminal history reports, including PA State Police and FBI clearance.
