Job Description

The Opportunity

Parralax is building something that doesn't exist yet: a modern communications engine that treats persuasion like infrastructure. We are a high-velocity content operation backed by committed investors, leading advocacy organizations, and a passionate team that has run some of the largest political media operations in history. We produce content at campaign scale—hundreds of videos, millions of impressions, rapid-response storytelling across every platform. We do this in service of fixing American democracy through the actionable lever of election reform.

We are focused on solving the Primary Problem: Closed party primaries disenfranchise millions of voters and disincentivizes our leaders from solving problems. Open, all-candidate primaries increase participation, improve representation, and dampen polarization. We are here to win open primaries on the state level in order to enfranchise millions of voters and liberate dozens of members of Congress.`

We need a strong Chief of Staff to act as the connective tissue of the entire operation, turning the President’s vision into executed reality across creative, distribution, analytics, and partnerships. You'll be the person who makes sure nothing falls through the cracks in a system that moves at the speed of culture.

While we srtrongly prefer this role be based full time in Denver, we are open to exceptional candidates being based in the Bay Area, DC, or New York.

About the Role

This is an operating role with real authority and real stakes to the work. You will be accountable for:

  • Translating strategy into sprints. Take high-level narrative strategy and break it into executable plans with clear owners, deadlines, and OKRs. You're fluent in both 'big picture' and 'who's doing what by Friday.'
  • Running the war room. Own the cadence, accountability, and throughput of a comms operation producing 15+ pieces of content per week across video, social, paid media, and long-form. You keep the trains running so that the creative team can stay in flow.
  • Being the President's force multiplier. Attend the meetings he can't. Draft the decks he doesn't have time for. Flag the problem before it becomes a fire. You have the judgment to represent leadership without needing a script.
  • Owning cross-functional coordination. Creative, analytics, partnerships, political strategy—you sit at the intersection and make sure these teams aren't operating in silos. When something's stuck, you unstick it.
  • Building and improving the operating system. Design workflows, reporting structures, and feedback loops that let the team scale without burning out.

Requirements

Who You Are

You've spent 5–10 years in high-performance environments—tech, media, campaigns, startups—and you've outgrown the role you're in. You're the person everyone relies on to bring order to chaos – and you now want your skills to be applied to something with stakes beyond the usual growth KPIs.

  • You've operated at scale. You know what it's like to ship fast in a team of 20+ across multiple workstreams that build for millions of users. You've managed timelines, budgets, and people.
  • You're politically literate. You don't need to be a policy wonk, but you do understand the media landscape, the news cycle, and why narrative matters in democracy.
  • You write like a strategist. Decks, memos, briefs—you can synthesize complex information into something a CEO or a board member would read and act on.
  • You're a systems thinker. You see the org chart as a wiring diagram. When something's inefficient, it bothers you on a cellular level. You work to fix it before anyone asks.
  • You have battle-tested judgment. You know when to escalate and when to decide. You know when a plan needs more time, and when it needs to ship. People trust your instincts.
  • You're not precious. You'll write a memo at 7am and troubleshoot a tech issue at 4pm. The title is Chief of Staff, but the job is 'whatever it takes.'

Benefits

Why You Should Take This Role

  • Impact you can feel. Your work will directly shape how millions of Americans understand election reform, a critical level to improving and strengthening our democracy. That deck you made? It unlocked $10M in new funding. That content sprint? It reached 200 million people, and flipped the next ballot initiative from a loss to a win.
  • A seat at the table. You'll work alongside our President, who built one of the most prolific political content operations in modern history. You'll have direct exposure to donors, political leaders, and media executives.
  • The team is elite. We hire people who could work anywhere and choose to work here. No dead weight. No bureaucratic drag. Just sharp people moving fast on hard problems.
  • It's still early. The comms engine is scaling. You're not maintaining a machine—you're building one. The playbook you write will define how this organization operates for the next decade.

Our democracy will not fix itself. But with you working alongside our team, we have a fighting chance.

  • Stipends for professional development and wellness

Parallax is an equal opportunity employer.
