The Public Safety Dispatch Supervisor I (PSDS I) coordinates with the Area Commander in developing and maintaining the selection process of new Yreka Communications Center (YCC) personnel, and provides recommendations to the Area Commander. The PSDS I prepares all hiring documents and facilitates the reporting date of all new employees. The PSDS I provides orientation, instruction and training for new dispatch personnel in the operation of all communications related equipment. The PSDS I develops and coordinates orientation and training of new YCC personnel. The PSDS I ensures Departmental training requirements are met and complete probationary and annual evaluations for YCC personnel. The PSDS I is responsible for completing CHP 100PSD, Monthly Job Performance Summaries; and the CHP 118PSD, Performance Appraisal - Public Safety Dispatcher, for YCC personnel, and submit them to the Area Commander for review. The PSDS I provides guidance, counseling, and direction to YCC personnel as needed. The PSDS I maintains YCC personnel field folders located at the Yreka Area office. The PSDS I supervises, reviews, and evaluates the work performance of assigned YCC personnel. The PSDS I coordinates and prepares reports on complaint investigations involving YCC personnel. The PSDS I completes requests for Adverse Actions, Rejection During Probations, and Interim Reporting as deemed necessary. The PSDS I prepares Commendable and Censurable Incident Reports for YCC personnel. The PSDS I will coordinate and prepare monthly work schedules for communications personnel assuring proper staffing levels at all times. The PSDS I coordinates and approves use of overtime, plans and organizes emergency action plans, special details, routine operations, and any revision to SOP. The PSDS I assures accurate completion of all time-keeping records for YCC personnel. The PSDS I reviews and approves the STD 262, Travel Expense Claims; CHP71, Attendance Reports; and CHP 415, Daily Field Records. The PSDSI coordinates and reviews industrial injury reports and claims with the involved personnel, Area Commander, CHP Headquarters, and the State Compensation Insurance Fund (SCIF). The PSDS I completes and submits all forms and correspondence required to report an industrial injury. The PSDS I assures injured personnel receive medical care for their injury. The PSDS I coordinates staffing coverage to compensate for loss of injured or absent personnel. The PSDS I assures the communications center is operated in an efficient manner. The PSDS I maintains the efficient operation of YCC equipment and assures appropriate records are completed and forwarded. The PSDS I coordinates operations needs and problems with local radio technicians, field operations, CHP Headquarters Telecommunications Section, Communication Centers Support Section, and allied agency personnel. The PSDS I coordinates operation and maintenance of all equipment at YCC, by ensuring a neat and orderly work place is maintained. The PSDS I prepares YCC required reports (e.g., Radio Key Counts, Road Closure Reports, Monthly Staffing Assessments, and Overtime Expenditures). Performs other job-related duties within the scope of the classification as required or assigned.
