Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Design and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons that promote student understanding of key health topics such as mental, emotional and social health, nutrition, personal hygiene, substance abuse prevention, and sexual health (age appropriate aligned with state requirements)
• Implement curriculum that is culturally inclusive and in a safe and supportive learning environment where ALL students feel valued.
• Promote healthy lifestyle habits, healthy relationships and health-literacy for all students.
• Provide programs and services that develop essential attitudes, knowledge and skills for student to make healthy and informed decisions.
• Organize program coordination with staff, parents/caregivers and community resources.
• Use a variety of instructional strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
• Implement classroom management strategies that support a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment.
• Integrate culturally responsive and trauma-informed practices.
• Assess student progress through both formative and summative assessments.
• Collaborate with school counselors, physical education teachers, and administrators to support whole-child wellness.
• Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and health education topics.
• Maintain accurate records in compliance with school, state, and federal policies.

Qualifications/Education and/or Experience

• Minimum Bachelor's degree in Health or Physical Education, Master's Degree preferred
• Belief in and alignment with REACH Academy Charter School core beliefs and educational philosophy
• Preferred Valid New York State Certification, but can be unertified working towards achieving certificaiton status.
• Experience working in Urban Education with middle school scholars.
